Dr Clive R. Boddy.

BSc., Dip. M., Dip. MM., Dip MRS., PGCHE, MA, DBA, PhD., F. AIM., F. CIM., F. MRS., F. HEA.

Clive was previously a Professor of Management at the University of Tasmania in Australia and, before that, a Professor of Leadership at Middlesex University in London, and has held Visiting Professorships with other universities in the UK and Australia.

Clive is recognised globally as an authority on effective and ineffective leadership and on psychopathic leadership in particular. He has authored two books on psychopathic leadership (1, 2) appeared in TV documentaries on psychopathic leadership and the global financial crisis and on power psychopaths (3, 4), and has been interviewed on radio shows in the UK (BBC Radio), Australia (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), and India (the Soapy Rao Show). His TEDx talk on corporate psychopaths has been viewed 1.6 million times. Clive publishes academic research papers on leadership, HR, management, and toxic, unethical, and psychopathic leadership regularly and is one of the most cited authors in leadership.

As an academic, Clive was hugely influential in breaking the paradigmatic view that psychopaths are criminals and are only to be found in prisons, and more recently, the paradigmatic view that psychopathy is mainly a male personality trait. He was the first management researcher to identify and investigate in a replicable and scientific manner the existence of corporate psychopaths and their influence on the welfare of employees, organisations, and society, relative to normal and responsible leaders.

Clive served in the University Strategic Leadership Network and on the Business School leadership Team at UTAS, and was also head of the discipline of management, and before that was Chair of the university-wide Professors’ Group at Middlesex University. The Middlesex University Professors Group is a cross-university group convened in 2010 to advise the executive, share information, disseminate best practice, be a voice for Professors, and contribute to leadership.

Commercially, Clive has held leadership posts as Regional Board Director, President, Managing Director, and General Manager. In business, Clive can validly claim to have been a truly transformational leader as he turned around two national offices and ran what were then some of the world’s fastest-growing market research companies three times in a row (in Taiwan and South Korea). Clive has also worked as Vice-chair and Treasurer for UK Chambers of Commerce in Korea and Australia, for professional associations, and as a School Governor.

Clive has worked in universities in the UK and Australia from 2000 to 2025, and in commerce from 1986 to 2000. He has recently provided consultancy services to personnel from the Civil Service, National Fraud Office, the UK Police, NHS, and Universities.
